My School’s Flea Market
Last Saturday, my school had a flea market. We were encouraged to donate things that we didn’t need anymore. The earning will be donated to charity.
My friends and I were selling second-hand toys, books and ice Popsicles.
We were worried because the weather was bad. True enough, all the second-hand things were sold out, but the ices Popsicles were not selling well and many were left. To solve the problem, we decided to have a big sale.
In the end, we sold everything. We were very happy that we could do our part for charity.

Made A Mistake
One morning, Don woke up late. He had to be at work at 9:00, so he rushed to eat his breakfast and get dressed at the same time. He had only a few minutes to spare. The garbage truck was due to come at 8:50. So Don grabbed his briefcase and a bag of trash and ran out the door.
Don ran as fast as he could. He caught the truck just as it was leaving. Quickly he tossed his bag of trash inside. Then Don ran toward his office. Suddenly he realized that he was holding the bag of trash instead of his briefcase. He had thrown the briefcase in the garbage truck by mistake!

A False Alarm
Jackson was walking home from school one night. As he walked along the street, he saw smoke coming from a house about a block away. He was horrified at the thought of someone’s house burning down. He quickly pulled out his cell phone and called the fire department. He told them about the emergency and gave them the address. He urged them to hurry.
Soon the fire truck arrived. The fire station had sent its biggest truck and all its five fighters. The fire fighters hooked up the fire hose to the hydrant and then dragged it to the burning house. The smoke was coming from behind the house, so they went around to the back.
Imagine their surprise when they found the family enjoying a barbecue!

The fox and the cicada
A hungry fox was looking for food in the forest. He heard a cicada singing. He thought, “A little is better than none!” Thus the fox said, “Who is singing? I’ve never heard such a beautiful voice. Would you come down, please?” The cicada heard the fox, but he pretended he didn’t. The fox kept saying, ”Oh, trust me! I won’t hurt you.” The smart cicada dropped a leaf to the fox. The fox thought it was the cicada, so he opened his mouth. After he found he was fooled, he angrily called the cicada, “Cheater!” The cicada smiled and said, “Well, you won’t be cheated if you don’t cheat first.”

Sesame Street Super Star Competition
I was very happy I was in the Sesame Street Super Star Competition last year. I was so nervous and excited because it was my first time to sing and dance on stage. Randie, Jason, and I practiced singing “Born This Way” over and over again. The lyrics were kind of difficult, especially the rap. Teacher told us to exercise everyday so we would have energy to sing and dance at the same time. Teamwork was very important in this competition so we also practiced dancing everyday after class. What a great experience!

Friendship
Friends are the people who share your happiness and sadness. I think everyone must have a best friend! I also agree that a long-lasting friendship must experience many challenges over a long time.
We have to use our true heart to treat our friends and should care about their feelings. My friends always listen to me about my sadness, and they encourage me when I need. That makes me happy again. When I do something good, they will tell that they are proud of what I do.
To build a long-lasting friendship, you should learn to be a considerate person and give help to your friends in their difficult times.

Come to Taiwan
You can travel everywhere in Taiwan, north, south, east or west. Anywhere, it’s up to you because beauty is everywhere. In the north, we have some wonderful museums. There you can see something different. In the west, there is a large statue of Buddha. If you go there, you will feel calm and peaceful. Taiwan is famous for its fruits. Go to the south and try some delicious fruits. You can’t miss them. My favorite is the eastern part of Taiwan. It is really a must to go there. You can enjoy diving, watching the sunrise and sunset there. Come to Taiwan. It’s a nice place to be.

After ten minutes. ”What were you going to say just now?” asked the father. “I just wanted to tell you that the water you drank is dirty. It wasn’t the soup.” said the girl. “Oh, no!” said the father.

As Giant As A T-Rex
If you could be any dinosaur, what dinosaur would you want to be? One afternoon, I woke up and found that I was as giant as a T-Rex. Everything looked small and yummy while was a huge T-Rex. Then I went to see myself through the window. I found that I had two big strong legs, sharp teeth, a big mouth, but two short arms. Hurrily, I ran out to get help from my mother and father. But when they saw me, they screamed and ran away! I felt sad and walk slowly on the street. All the people were shocked and escaped as fast as they could. Suddenly I was so hungry that I started looking for meat. When I attacked some cows, the police shot at me. That made me angry. I roared loudly and stepped on them. And some tanks and helicopters came and shot some chemicals at me. But luckily, when I woke up, I became a human again.

Recitation competition
Last November, I attended the recitation competition. I was lucky because I was accepted to the final competition. My teachers practiced with me in class, after school, and on the weekends. The training was not easy. I stood in front of my class to read to my classmates, so I wouldn’t be afraid to stand on the stage. I practiced outside, and my teacher went across the street to listen to me so I spoke louder. Though I didn’t win first place, it was still a great experience. I’d love to attend the competition again.

Unforgetful Experience
One day, Tom was walking on the street and he saw two strange eggs on the ground. He picked them up, but he didn’t hold them well, so one egg fell and broke. When the egg was broken, people on the street couldn’t move, and Tom was sucked into a black hole. When he woke up, he saw many old things, and they were so different from where he lived. People wore long robes and they lived in strange-looking houses. He made many friends there, and they showed him around the place. He learned a lot about this place, but he really wanted to go home. He missed his parents and his friends. He tried many ways to go back, but they didn’t work out. All of a sudden, he thought of the other unbroken egg. He broke the egg, and he was back to the place where he found the eggs. What an unforgettable adventure!

The Wings of the Angel
There was a boy named Ken. There were two scars on his back. His classmates hated him very much because he was quite different from others.
One day, Ken’s mother went to school and told the teacher why the scars were on Ken’s back. Then the teacher said, “I see! I will handle that. Don’t worry.”
Next day, the teacher told the students that Ken’s scars were the marks of angel’s wings. Ken was an angel.
The children were sorry for Ken because the children laughed at a Ken before. But Ken forgave them. They became good friends and the children learned never judge a person by how he/she looks.

Beigang Festival
Every year between the 19th to 23 th of March in the Lunar calendar, Beigang hold a grand ceremony to celebrate the birth of Ma Zu.
Everyone in the town lines the roads and sets off many firecrackers to show their respect and thankfulness towards Ma Zu. They do this to honor Ma Zu who provides success in business and safety for all the families.
There are costumed parades on decorated floats where they toss candy and flowers.
It’s an amazing and interesting event! This time of the year is one of the happiest time for both Ma Zu and children.

As Mean As A Vampire
One very dark midnight, I floated on my bed and found that I become as mean as a vampire. My sleeping dog next to me seemed kind and delicious! I walked around the bedroom, looking for a mirror to look at myself. Yet I couldn’t see anything on the mirror. How strange it was! When I touched my face, I found I had two very sharp teeth. Suddenly, outside the bedroom, my family looked scared as I was a terrible monster! They screamed loudly and ran away in fear. At that time I was a little hungry, and they looked like food to me. So I ran after them! While crossing the road out of my house, a car zoomed fast toward me. I was nearly knocked down by it! Suddenly, I woke up and I knew it was just a very dreadful nightmare!
