An Adventure in a Movie Theater

One day, Jessica and Anna went to a movie theater to see a movie about the Dream Land. Then, they saw some cute but strange animals in the movie.

A special thing suddenly happened. They were sucked into the screen.

They saw some bears having wings, cats can talk, and dogs wearing dress. They were friendly. They haven’t seen any people before. After knowing the animals won’t hurt them, they played together.

Suddenly, a very fantastic, and amazing castle appeared, and they went in.

The castle was built in gold. They liked it very much and they were taken to the queen’s room.

The queen was sitting in a tall chair. They were surprised because the queen was a sheep, but she looked elegant.

She prepared a lot of delicious food for them.

Then, the queen said, “I have some problems. There is a monster in our country. It is very mean, so we can’t fight with it. Can you help us?” They said, “OK! We will try that!” “Thank you very much!”

The next day, Jessica and Anna went to see the monster and they were scared. However if they escaped, the monster would hurt the Dream Land. They inspired themselves to see it.

The monster cried and said, “I don’t have any friends. Can you be my friends?” They felt surprised because this monster looked nice. They understood that the monster was mean because he wanted a friend. However, it didn’t know how to make one.

They took monster to see the queen.

The queen invited the monster to stay in the castle.

After that, Jessica and Anna wanted to go home. They went through a magical road.

Finally, they were back to the movie theater. What a adventure it was!

Finding Strength in Defeat

I have participated in many Taiwanese speech contests and have never been beaten until three years after I began giving speeches.

In the first year, I took part in the speech contest which was held by my town. I won first place in the contest. The next year, I won first place again.

In the third year, everyone was confident that I would win the prize, however…

The list of winners did not have my name on it.

As I saw the list, I felt as if a knife was piercing my heart.

A negative thought hit me all of a sudden. Reading Taiwanese aloud did not mean anything to me anymore. I decided that I wasn’t going to practice any more.

My teacher said “A contest is simply an experience of your life and losing is not the end of your life. What you have learned during the process is more important than the result.”

My teacher said “Forget about the contest since you are already the best in my eyes.” His words were an encouragement to me.

This was my first time to suffer from frustration and also the first time to experience and understand how much courage I needed when I encountered frustration. The following days, I was upset and looked down on myself. I was afraid of anyone talking about the contest in which I was defeated.

Two weeks passed and I was getting back to normal with everyone’s encouragement and was even able to challenge myself to learn advanced Taiwanese and give another speech.

This time I lost but I was thankful to have a chance to learn from my frustration.

My courage was strengthened by this event and I learned that life is not always perfect. However, courage helps us to overcome the frustration.

A Little Tiger’s Journey to Happiness

A long, long time ago, there was a little tiger who lived in the jungle. He was unhappy, but he didn’t know why.

One day, he decided to find happiness.

Firstly, he went west. He saw some cats playing together happily. He thought they were very happy, so they might have the answer he wanted.

The little tiger asked the cats, “Can you tell me what happiness is?” Then, the cats answered quickly, “Eating mice is a kind of happiness.”

The little tiger thought that wasn’t the answer he wanted, so he continued going.

This time, the little tiger went east. He saw a deer. The deer was eating grass without a care in the world.

He went to ask the deer, “Do you know what happiness is?” The deer answered cautiously, “If I am not eaten by you, that will be a kind of happiness.”

Then, the deer ran away quickly. “How stupid it is!” The little tiger shouted out loudly.

Though the little tiger felt disappointed, he didn’t give up. He went south and saw a pig. The pig was grinding its teeth on a tree happily.

The little tiger saw the pig feel so happy, so he said, “I must have finally found happiness.”

He went to ask the pig and the pig said gladly, “ Finding a good tree to grind your teeth is happiness.”

The little tiger thought that trees were everywhere, so he didn’t think it was the happiness he was looking for.

Finally, the little tiger thought of all the ideas about happiness he got from those animals and felt sad because he didn’t find out what he thought happiness should be.

As soon as he arrived home, he ran to his mom and said, “Mom, what is happiness?” His mom said, “Happiness is on your tail.”

Then, he chased his tail for a long time and he still couldn’t catch it. His mom smiled at him and said, “Oh, cutie! You can’t chase happiness.”

If you live contentedly, happiness will be with you.”

The Gost Island

Long time ago, there was a farmer named George who lived in the countryside. He was very poor. In order to keep the pot hot, he worked very hard. But the weather was terrible. George was worried that his crop would be ruined bye the storm.

Unfortunately, George’s drop was dead the next day. He wanted to move to a new place, so he left his hometown, and started his adventure. He decided to go overseas, so he rented a boat.

Unluckily, he had no food or water and still couldn’t see the land. Suddenly, it started to rain heavily and George’s boat was shaking. Within five minutes, his boat was broken and he had fell into the water.

George shouted out loud and caught some wood. Just when he was too tired to catch anymore wood, he saw something bright moving closer and closer. It was an old ship without people on it. Then something magical happened. George caught a rope which was dropped from the ship, and he was saved. The ship brought him into the water.

When George opened his eyes, he was lying on an island which was in the middle of the sea. He thought it was so strange that he couldn’t see any humans. But then, at night, a lot of ”Ghost” appeared and walked on to the island from the ship.

George realized that they were looking for him, he hid behind a big rack and quickly ran into an old building. After a while, the Ghosts started going into all the buildings. All of a sudden, a girl appeared and brought into a small room.

Then the girl brought George into the palace which the Ghost King lived. All the Ghosts didn’t notice that George was a human. George stayed at the kitchen and prepared for their plan. Then, a cook asked him to take the dinner to the Ghost King.

A Ghost led him to the elevator and George went to the top floor. When he arrived, the girl was waiting for him. She gave George a gun and asked him to kill the Ghost King while they were fighting. Then she opened the door. The Ghost King was sitting on a throne. George put his dinner on the table. The Ghost King saw him and shouted, “Human!” George was caught and the girl attacked the Ghost King.

While they were fighting, George took out the gun and shot the Ghost King. After a scary yell, the Ghost King disappeared and only left his bag and clothes.

The girl told George that the Ghost King put a treasure in a place. The map in the bag could bring George to find the treasure. When George opened his eyes, he was on his boat. The girl, the Ghosts, and the island had disappeared. But he was still holding the bag. Then George became a rich man since he found the treasure.

No one will believe what George says about the “Ghost island”…And no one knows where the island is…

A Whole New Jason

Once upon a time, there was a hunter named Jason. He was the best hunter in the world.

Jason always got the perfect score in the shooting contest. He never lost and enjoyed being the first place in the contest.

Jason was very proud of his shooting record and thought he had the perfect skill.

Jason refused to share his experience with other hunters because no one could compete with him.

An annual shooting contest was about to begin. Jason was very confident with his first place. He didn’t prepare it at all.

To everyone’s surprise, Jason lost the game. He was angry and shame. Moreover, he continued losing points in the game. He gave up the game at the end.

He was in a temper all the time. He treated people badly. He wasn’t that super Jason anymore.

One day, Jason took a nap and he had a dream.

In his dream, he came to a forest. Though the forest animals took good care of him, he still found that living in the forest was not as comfortable as living in his home.

Jason tried to find the way home. Unfortunately he got lost. He completely didn’t know where he was.

Jason walked and walked, and then he saw a desert. The desert animals disliked him. They didn’t want to share any food or water with him. He was very hungry and tired. He thought he was going to die in the desert.

A noise woke Jason up and he realized it was just a dream. He started to think what the dream meant to him. He didn’t want to be alone anymore.

He started to practice his shooting over and over again. He hardly took a rest until he was satisfied with his score.

He became to be polite to the other hunters and discussed how to improve his shooting with his friends.

“No pains! No gains!” Jason finally won the first place again. This time he won people’s respect and he was truly a super hunter.

The Chair

Long time ago, a beautiful oak chair was placed in front of a furniture store. One day, a rich fat woman bought it.

The woman liked the chair very much, but the chair hated her, because she put her big ass on its face, and farted again and again.

The chair prayed to get rid of her every day. Soon, the chair found a chance to escape. It ran away at midnight.

On the way, it met many different chairs. It felt so surprised. After chatting with them, it found everybody had the same experience. They began to vent their anger toward their masters and mistresses.

Suddenly, a hand-made leather sofa stood out and said, “I had the worst treatment. There is only one person sitting on you, but there are many people sitting on me at the same time. Lucky me! There is a cushion on my face to stop people from farting on me directly. (An idea came to his mind.)” How about all of you get a cushion on you now? You may get discount if you go to the store at the corner.”

The next day, the rich fat woman couldn’t find the chair. She was very worried. After few days, she found the chair came back with a beautiful cushion on it. She felt so happy about her fashionable chair.

From that time, the chair didn’t care about what the woman did on it anymore.

Son of the Sun

The yellow beach and sparkling sea.

There was a girl fell into the sea while Chris was playing in the water. So Chris swam to the girl and save her.

“Hey! Wake up! Wake up! Chris said. “Cough! Cough!” the girl threw up the water which she drank in.

“”Are you all right?” Chris asked again. “Who are you? Did you save me from the sea?” the girl asked.

“I’m Chris, and you? What’s wrong with you?” Chris asked. “Lucica, I want to find son of of the son. However, I still can’t find him” Lucica said.

“Who is he? Is he the most important person in you life?” Chris asked. “Yeah! He’ll give me a lot of happiness.” Lucica said.

“I see. Then, can I go with you to find him?” Chris asked. “O.k.” Lucica said. Then Chris and Lucica went to find “Son of the sun.”

On their way, they met a boy named Jack. They asked him “Are you son of the sun?” Jack said, “No, I’m not. You can go to visit Joe. He is a shiny boy. They went to visit Joe after they thanked to Jack.”

On their trip, they had a lot of fun. They played with the foxes by the river, they watched the stone, share jokes to each other and so on.

At the moment, Lucica didn’t think they have to visit Joe. “I don’t want to visit Joe anymore.” Lucica said. “Why?” Chris asked.

“Because he is just beside me.” Lucica said and smiled at him. “Me?” Chris was surprised. “Yeah! I had never felt so happy before I met you. You are my son of the son!”

Finally, Lucica found her “Son of the sun.” Now, look around you, maybe yours is just beside you.

Once upon a time, there was a kind mother bear living in the forest. While she was looking for food to satisfy her hunger, she found a new born baby tiger.

She decided to take him with her and bring him up out of her sympathy. When the tiger was one year old, he taught the bear was his mother.

However, after he turned two years old, he couldn’t figure out why he looked very different from his mother.

One day, mother bear came home from hunting food and that the tiger disappeared. She hurried to the neighbor and was told the tiger was looking for his biological mother.

She came to realize the tiger knew the truth that she was not her mother. After the tiger left home, he met a snake and asked it she could show him where to find his mother.

She told him that his mother had big round ears, black and yellow stripes and a long tail. She lived a few smile away.

He followed her advice and found the place. But, he was disappointed she told him she was not his mother.

A few days later, he went to another forest to continue searching his mother. Unfortunately, he ran into a hunter.

As soon as he managed to escape, the hunter aimed the gun at him. All of a sudden, a mean tiger came to save him. The tiger passed out from the scare.

The mother tiger took him home and cared for him until he came to alive. When he opened his eyes and saw her big round ears, black and yellow stripes and a long tail, and he was nervous to ask, “Are you my mother?” “You are right.” She replied. She went to explain.

Our family were chased by the hunter and had to leave you alone after you were born. The tiger understood why he was unwanted but still hoped to go back to the mother bear.

The mother tiger asked to go with him. He was pleased to accept.

After that, the mother bear, the tiger mother and the baby tiger lived together happily.

The Music Wizard

Happy was just like other normal boy on this Earth. He was smart, but very playful. One day while he was walking on the street, he saw a pair of shiny blue gloves lying on the ground.

Because of curiosity, he picked them up and wore them. Then some magical things happened. Beautiful, bright and colorful lights surrounded him.

After that, a river child walked out of the lights. He was a music wizard. He could turn the notes to weapons and attacked bad people. The wizard wanted Happy to become a music wizard, too. Because Happy was a talented boy.

Johnny the river child started to teach Happy after he had introduced himself. Johnny told him to learn everything by heart and to use it for saving and protecting good people.

Happy was a clever boy. He learned fast, but he was just a normal boy. He has loved a girl and wanted to propose to her. The girl who Happy loved was Amy. They were not in the same class, but they were in the same school. She was younger than Happy and they both played violin. Amy loved Happy, too, but she didn’t tell anyone about it.

One day, their school’s band was on the way to concert. When they arrived, they saw everyone screaming and running out of the room.

An UFO landed at the concert’s place!

The alien tried to attack Amy and this made Happy so angry.

He took out his violin and recited the spell.

Then, he played the violin and the notes started to attack the aliens.

The aliens were frightened. They began to scream and quickly ran back to their UFO and flew away.

Happy approached Amy and proposed. Amy said yes. From that day on, Happy became everyone’s hero!

Finding a Dream

A long time ago, there was an island named Dream. In this place everyone had a dream. People dreamed to be a polite officer, a doctor, a lawyer or a famous singer.

There was a boy named Chi who didn’t know what his dream was. He was very worried, so he decided to go off to explore the world to find his dream.

First, he went to the jungle and it was very hot. He saw tall trees and there were many monkeys swinging from their tails.

Then he saw a parrot standing on the ground and its wing was hurt. Chi cured the parrot and helped it to fly away. In the jungle, he didn’t find his dream, but it was grand to help the parrot.

After that, he went to a beach. He saw pretty shells scattered on the beach. He saw a whale dying near the seashore. The whale needed more water, so Chi pushed it back into the sea.

He still couldn’t find his dream, but he was happy to help the whale.

He continued traveling to the next place. He went to the forest. It was very cool and wet. He saw many animals there.

Suddenly, he saw a deer trapped in a net and he helped the deer escape.

“Poor deer. You are free now.” Said Chi.

A magical thing happened. The deer started to talk and became a beautiful fairy. The fairy said that he could have one wish from her. Chi told the fairy that he wanted to know what his dream was.

Then, the fairy put her hand on his head and said, “You have already found your dream on your way when you tried to help these poor animals.”

Finally, Chi realized that he wanted to become a vet. After ten years, he became a famous and successful vet on the island.
